format and style
The project will be shot primarily on HD24P video, using a Sony EX1 camera. A second camera - a Panasonic HMC 150 - will also be used. Some archival photographs and footage will be employed in order to paint a more comprehensive picture of the lives these women lead, and the places they call home. The thoughts and insight of politicians, journalists, and philanthropists with various areas of expertise related to the subject will be incorporated in an effort to ground the narrative and lend the film a critical perspective. All these sources – talking heads in interview settings, archival photos and footage, and on-location material detailing the experience of the women as they run their businesses with microborrowed money – will then be interwoven. Creative usage of narration, music, and sound will further augment the project.
