Rachel Cook

Rachel Cook, Director / Producer

Rachel is a Chicago-based documentarian who has studied film at The University of Southern California and Duke University, and Economics and Business at Duke and Dartmouth College. Working as an Equities and Eurodollar Futures Trader while simultaneously maintaining a writing and producing career in film and theater, Rachel brings a unique blend of experience in the realms of both art and commerce to the table, directing what will be her first feature.

Steve Hiller

Steve Hiller, Director of Photography

Steve is a more than thirty-year veteran of the studio system with camera credits in over fifty Hollywood films, including Courage Under Fire, The Fugitive, Hoffa, Terms of Endearment and The Outsiders. He is also a Marine Vietnam Vet, and his most recent film project, a documentary called Once Enemies, examined efforts made to locate the missing from the Vietnam/American War. He is a founding member of Hesperus Films.

Lou Karsen

Lou Karsen, Executive Producer

Lou is an independent filmmaker and founder of Swim Pony Films. Lou has produced features, shorts and commercials—most recently completing a full length documentary called Renaissance Village, about the largest FEMA trailer park set-up after Hurricane Katrina. Renaissance Village, garnered several festival selections, and was aired on PBS.

Luis Recalde

Luis Recalde, Associate Producer

Luis Jacobo Recalde Ojeda, a native of Paraguay who currently resides in the city of Filadelfia, is an experienced documentary filmmaker who has spent years of his life working behind the camera on various projects filmed in the UK, as well as in other parts of Europe and South America. He is excited to be joining the Capitalism and Charity team as our AP on the ground.

Stefanie Karlin

Stefanie Karlin, Fundraising Coordinator

Stefanie Karlin has worked for arts administrations of all sizes and shapes, as a fundraiser and more. She managed and danced for The Moving Architects, a Chicago-based modern dance company for several years. She has also worked in the fundraising department at Chicago Public Radio. She is currently working with Northwest Dance Network in Seattle, as well as helping to make Capitalism and Charity possible.
